Covid-19 Procedures
The Diocese of Lexington has advised its schools to follow CDC safety protocols regarding Covid-19. Below are the CDC’s guidelines as of March 1, 2024.
- Once testing positive for Covid-19 and/or Influenza, students are to stay out of the classroom for at least five (5) days. This is because children infected with the Omicron variant remained infectious for a median time of three (3) days after testing positive for the virus.
- After the five days, the person must be FEVER FREE/DIARRHEA FREE/VOMIT FREE/RASH FREE for 24 hours (without Tylenol or Motrin) BEFORE THEY MAY RETURN TO SCHOOL.
- Once people resume normal activities, they are encouraged to take additional prevention strategies for the next 5 days to curb disease spread, such as taking more steps for cleaner air, enhancing hygiene practices, wearing a well-fitting mask, keeping a distance from others, and/or getting tested for respiratory viruses.
