The Diocese of Lexington has advised its schools to follow CDC safety protocols regarding Covid-19.  Below are the CDC’s guidelines as of March 1, 2024.

  1. Once testing positive for Covid-19 and/or Influenza, students are to stay out of the classroom for at least five (5) days. This is because children infected with the Omicron variant remained infectious for a median time of three (3) days after testing positive for the virus.

  1. After the five days, the person must be FEVER FREE/DIARRHEA FREE/VOMIT FREE/RASH FREE for 24 hours (without Tylenol or Motrin) BEFORE THEY MAY RETURN TO SCHOOL.

  1. Once people resume normal activities, they are encouraged to take additional prevention strategies for the next 5 days to curb disease spread, such as taking more steps for cleaner air, enhancing hygiene practices, wearing a well-fitting mask, keeping a distance from others, and/or getting tested for respiratory viruses.
