Bench Program Thank You!
A big THANK YOU to all St. Agatha students, friends and families for collecting bottle caps for our bench program!
Your efforts collected 500 pounds of bottle caps that students helped sort, weigh, and load into Mrs. Thomas’ van. On Tuesday, September 10, 2019 these bottle caps were driven to Evansville, IN and recycled to acquire two 6′ benches and one 4′ bench to help beautify our campus. Thank you Bob and Peggy Schultz for the use of your trailer and time to help transport the benches.
Last year’s graduating 8th grade class donated the funds to cover the manufacturing expenses of one of the 6′ benches, placed in the courtyard. The funds to cover our two new playground benches were graciously donated by the Draper family (Mikayla 2nd and Ellie K).
We will continue to collect bottle caps in the hopes that we will be able to fund some more benches to place around campus. Donation buckets for bottle caps are located in the main school lobby, and by the Kindergarten sign in sheet. If you have any questions regarding the program please contact Mrs. Thomas (Kindergarten).
Congratulations to Alec Skinner!
Alec was recently spotlighted by the Winchester Sun for planting 50 white pine trees at Camp Burnamwood in Estill County. The reforestation project was necessary because of beaver damage to the local tree population. Thanks Alec, for being a good citizen and caring about the environment!
