Doris Gilbert, Administrative Assistant
Doris Gilbert has been at St. Agatha Academy since 1991. Mrs. Gilbert also serves as our Safety Compliance Officer and holds a food handlers’ certificate for St. Agatha.
Kathleen Thompson, Principal
Kathleen Thompson has been teaching in the Diocese of Lexington for over 35 years, at both Sts. Peter and Paul School and Seton Catholic School. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education (grades 1-8) at Brescia College in Owensboro, Kentucky, and her Master of Arts degree in Elementary Education at Georgetown College, Georgetown, Kentucky. She is a certified Catechist and a Kentucky Teacher Internship Program mentor teacher. Miss Thompson is a member of the National Catholic Education Association and Kentucky Science Teachers Association. Miss Thompson earned her Certification in Catholic School Leadership through Loyola Marymount University in 2024 and joined St. Agatha Academy in August that same year as Principal.
Jeanne Lane, Preschool Director and Kindergarten Teacher
Jeanne Lane has been a member of the St. Agatha Academy faculty and staff since 1995. Currently, she teaches kindergarten and serves as the Director of the Montessori program and the Extended Day Enrichment Program. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education and Master of Arts degree in School Leadership at Morehead State University in Morehead, Kentucky. During her time at St. Agatha Academy, Mrs. Lane has been involved with fundraising, organizing school functions, and serving as the chairperson for the St. Agatha Academy Golf Scramble. She and her husband, Steve, reside in Mt. Sterling and have one daughter, Stephanie, who attended St. Agatha Academy from preschool through eighth grade. In her spare time, Mrs. Lane enjoys spending time with her grandchildren.
Elisha Goulet, PreK Montessori
Elisha Goulet is a dedicated preschool teacher with over five years of experience in nurturing young minds. Holding a Preschool Child Development Associate credential from the Council of Professional Recognition as well as an Early Childhood Montessori Preschool diploma from the North American Montessori Center, Elisha specializes in creating a learning environment that encourages curiosity, social skills, and a love for learning. Committed to her professional development, Elisha regularly attends workshops and conferences on early childhood education, integrating the latest research and innovative teaching methods into her classroom. Beyond the classroom, Elisha is an enthusiastic hiker and camper. She also enjoys many types of handwork including knitting, embroidery, and spinning.
Maribeth Loveless, PreK Montessori
Maribeth Loveless has been a teacher for over 30 years. She has a Kentucky state teaching certificate for Kindergarten-6th grade from the University of Kentucky. She also holds AMS Montessori certifications for 3-6 year olds, and 6-9 year olds. She has taught at Providence Montessori, KORE Academy where she started their elementary program for children with learning differences, including writing the curriculum, Seton Catholic School and presently at St. Agatha Academy. She has taught many grade levels and is currently teaching Montessori preschool. She has three grown children and enjoys cooking, traveling, and jigsaw puzzles.
Aimee Boarman, Kindergarten Aide
Aimee Boarman has served St. Agatha Academy since 2018 as both an instructional aide in the Montessori program and Art teacher for grades PreK-8. Our students look forward to art each week and her creative ideas to enrich their artistic talents.
Lizzy Jirak, Preschool Classroom Aide
Lizzy Jirak graduated from Mars Hill Academy, a classical home school co-op, in 2021. She has worked with children since then, both as a nanny and as a daycare/preschool teacher. She is currently working on earning her CDA credential.
Alyssa Phillips, Preschool Aide
Alyssa Phillips joined St. Agatha Academy in 2024, and is enjoying the students, parents and staff here. She went to Montgomery County High School and spent one year at Morehead University completing her general education requirements. She is an aide and helps with both preschool classrooms and the kindergarten class. She enjoys reading and painting , as well as spending time with her family. She also spends every Saturday working at a local coffee shop , Buzz Cup, as a barista.
Jennifer Bishoff, 1st Grade
Jennifer Bishoff has taught and worked with children for more years than she cares to admit. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Toledo University, with a specialization in Early Childhood Education. She has been certified to teach Kindergarten – Eight Grade, all inclusive. She has taught in Catholic schools in Toledo, Ohio, and then joined the wonderful team at St. Agatha Academy in 2021.
Emily Roche, 2nd Grade
Emily Roche is passionate about nurturing the individual potential of each student by meeting them where they are and helping them grow. After graduating Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Missouri State University, Emily spent two years as an AmeriCorps Volunteer. She taught second grade at a school in inner-city Chicago and later served with the Christian Appalachian Project in rural Kentucky. Emily’s career continued as the Literacy Program Coordinator for Save the Children in Jackson County, KY. She also taught 3rd through 5th grade science and math at Saint Mark Catholic School in Richmond, KY. In December 2017, Emily earned her M.A. in Education with a focus on Learning and Behavior Disorders. She has worked at Saint Agatha Academy since 2019.
Tatiana Hall, 3rd Grade
Tatiana Hall and her husband Jordan live in Mount Sterling with their two sons, who also attend SAA. They attend Mass at both St. Joseph and St. Patrick, and are honored to be a part of this special community. Mrs. Hall graduated from Colby College and double-majored in Anthropology and French Studies. She earned her Masters degree in Elementary Education at the University of the Cumberlands. She has taught at SAA since 2020.
“I am thrilled to be immersed in a Classical school that integrates God, history and all subjects that inspire awe and wonder. Learning is my passion. I love the process from discovery to understanding, and how it can inspire* us. I also love children, and believe in my duty to foster every child’s unique light, teaching the whole-child and modeling with wisdom, kindness, humility and righteousness. It is an absolute privilege as a teacher to be able to help nurture students into the best versions of themselves. I enjoy walking, hiking or just sitting outside, working out, and being with my family – you can usually find us on weekends snuggled up on the couch reading and playing games. *From the Latin word ‘spirare’ meaning “to breathe,” and the word ‘spiritus’ meaning ‘spirit.’ “
Janie Johnston, 4th Grade
Janie Johnston has been teaching for over 25 years. She has taught public school in Walton County, Florida and Cobb County, Georgia. She has also taught right here in Clark County in both public and private schools before her move to Georgia. Mrs. Johnston returned to Kentucky and joined Saint Agatha Academy in 2000. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Eastern Kentucky University, and is a member of Kentucky Science Teachers Association.
Angela Rutledge, 5th Grade & Middle School Math and Science
Angela Rutledge has been teaching in Kentucky and Wyoming for 22 years. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism/Advertising at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana and her Master of Arts degree in Middle School Math at The University of Louisville in Louisville, Kentucky. She is married to Rick and they have two sons, two daughters, and two Norwegian Elk hounds. Mrs. Rutledge joined St. Agatha Academy in August of 2024. She teaches Middle School Math and Science.
Zach Carroll, Middle School History and Literature
Zach Carroll graduated from Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond with a Bachelor of Arts in History. He has been teaching at St. Agatha Academy since 2021. Prior to that he has ten years of experience in logistics. Mr. Carroll is glad to be a part of the St. Agatha Academy family.
Deacon John Roche, Middle School Writing, Grammar, Logic, and Latin
Deacon John Roche teaches middle school grammar, logic, Latin, and 8th grade religion. As a deacon in the Catholic Diocese of Lexington, he also works in Hispanic ministry. He holds a BA in English Literature from DePaul University, an MDiv from Catholic Theological Union, and an MA in humanities with a classical education concentration from the University of Dallas. In his free time, he enjoys playing piano, reading, and writing fiction. One of his favorite scripture passages is Romans 8:28 “We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose.”
Reyers Brusoe, Music & Band
Reyers Brusoe has worked for the Diocese of Lexington since 2022 and currently serves as the St. Joseph parish Music Minister and leads St. Agatha Academy’s music program. At St. Agatha Reyers teaches general music, and directs the St. Hildegard Choir Guild, and leads the Bl. Bartolo Longo and St. Andrew Kagwa bands.
Reyers earned his Bachelor of Science in Music Performance from Roberts Wesleyan University in 2019, where he studied piano, collaborative piano, organ, saxophone, jazz, composition and conducting. Mr. Brusoe completed his Masters of Music in Piano Pedagogy at the University of Southern Maine in 2021.
In 2024, he edited a volume of essays called The Latin Mass and the Youth: Young Catholics Speak About the Mass of the Ages. Outside of his musical, educational, and liturgical activities, Reyers enjoys volunteering with the St. Vincent de Paul Society, the Knights of Columbus, and Sidewalk Advocates for Life.
Rob Insley, Physical Education & Technology
Robert Insley has been teaching and providing psycho-education for over 30 years. He provided mental health and disciple groups, individual services, taught theology, coached sports and the drama team, and physical fitness and education at an adolescent residential substance abuse center in Virginia for two years before moving to Kentucky. Mr. Insley helped develop a children’s treatment center for emotionally and educationally challenged elementary and middle school students. The center provided therapeutic and psycho-educational groups, family therapy, classroom support, tutoring, and intervention services. He ran psycho-educational groups in several elementary schools on a variety of subjects. As a manager, he provided therapeutic and educational groups for career development, domestic violence victim and offender treatment, sexual assault victims and offenders as well as services and research for a residential substance abuse facility. Additionally, he conducted research and integrated technology that improved the quality of services with objective outcomes for the center. Mr. Insley has provided training on multiple subjects to child development centers, Union College, Berea College, Eastern Kentucky University, and the University of Kentucky. He has also been a coach and consultant for several sports. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology with minors in Sociology and Corrections from Mississippi State University, a Master of Arts degree in Professional Counseling from Liberty University, and accomplished hours towards a PhD in Psychology with the emphasis on research and evaluation. He has been a Clinically Certified Forensic Counselor, Certified Counselor for Sexual Offenders through University of Louisville, and held the status of a Diplomat for providing mental health services in the area of sport psychology.
In 2008, Mr. Insley joined the St. Agatha Academy faculty where he taught Spanish and Computer Technology. He also taught Spanish for a year at St. Mark Catholic School in Richmond to help develop a foreign language program in the school. For over a decade he has integrated the classical liberal arts and physical education for St. Agatha Academy. In 2022, Mr. Insley spoke at the National Conference for the Institute for Catholic Liberal Education on developing a foreign language program in the school.
